I just adopted an adorable 8 month old, 6 lb, male papillon puppy. He was trained to use the previous owner's back yard. I want to paper train him. My problem is that he lifts his leg to pee on a verticle surface, how will that work with pee pads on the floor? Any suggestions please?

It doesn't.
Puppy pads are designed to handle the volume of urine produced by a puppy. Not the volume that could be produced by an adult dog.

It will be much easier (and infinitely less frustrating) to continue allowing him to use the outdoors.

Continue to have the dog eliminate outdoors.
