I recently had a major change come up, and as a result, I need to find a new home for my B&G. (Don't worry, I'm being very picky about where she goes.) Anyway, I have found somebody that I think would treat her well, but they already have a male B&G. They want mine to help keep him company through the day. My question is, I've read that when 2 macaws get attached, they tend to stick with each other, and lose their attachment to humans. Is this true? They will be in separate cages, but will be next to each other in the room, and let out when their people are home. Is it a good idea to give her to them?

My good friend has 6 large macaws in separate cages in the living area. They are all pets.
As long as the keeper spends enough time handling each bird, there should be no change.

Sincerely,

Many people have multiple large Parrots. They just need more time since all the birds want interaction. The only problem will be the bird getting used to a new owner. The other bird will do no harm, as long as the new owner does his part.

A bird person with two is usually better than a novice with one. I used to be a novice, so maybe that's a bad example. I have 1 pair together and two others in separate cages. Birds bonded with me before another bird, and we all get along fine. Each has their own personality, likes and dislikes. So I say you have a winner.
After you have a certain number of birds, people give them to you. Baby birds are easy to sell. Grown birds get passed around from keeper to keeper till they find someone like me. I think your "somebody" is like me or others in the group.
