Some of what you say is true, but here's the question: Do you think the vets who currently recommend pellets ... profit motive? Sincerely, Joanne If it's right for you, then it's right, . . . . . for you!!!

I know my Vet does. I don't use the brand she sells, and she is fine with that. My Macaw gets a LOT of other stuff, which she really does not agree with, but she never makes a big deal out of it. As he is getting older he is eating less of the pellets I have noticed. I can understand why he would want variety, I would not want to eat steak every day no matter how good it is. We leave some Zupreem all the time, and then offer treats, seed mix made for Macaws, nut's and fruit. It seems to work as he has gained a lot of weight, but does not seem to be "fat". Every time I take him to be checked the vet comments on how great a shape he is in.

The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard.

I think that if your vet is recommending that you feed pellets, whether it's exclusively or as part of a varied diet, and your vet is not making any money on the pellets she is recommending, that is a true measure of her professional opinion of pellets. Her opinion is not tainted by a profit motive.
Thanks for answering my question, Alex.

Sincerely,
Joanne

Pellets haven't been around long enough to prove they are ... worming liquid and ivermectin for my birds in outside aviaries.

Some of what you say is true, but here's the question: Do you think the vets who currently recommend pellets would continue to recommend that same pellet if there were no personal profit motive? Sincerely, Joanne

No I don't.
