Rocky's heart murmur is only grade 1, caused by minor mitral regurgitation. Other than that, his heart is in fine shape, though one chamber is slightly enlarged (can't recall - I'll be getting a copy of the report in a few days). Blood speed through some of the valves is actually lower than normal, attributted to his good physical condition.
No meds required, no special care to be taken. No need to encase him in bubble wrap.
The ultrasound machine is pretty cool - lots of pretty coloured swirls and graphs, though Rocky didn't like the sound effects.

Woo-Hoo! I kept running in from my sod removal exercise (don't ask - it's heavy on the exercise part) to see if you had posted an update. SO good to see that it's good news.

No red-bi girl for him in the immediate future, uh?

Betcha a nice little girlie dog will make up for it. Hell, he'll probably take liver paste in a can for that matter.

Excellent news. I know you are very relieved.
YAY, Rocky.

very cool results Matt! I had a cat with cardiomyopathy - I was always fascinated by the ultrasounds as well!

Yes I am.
I was just taking pictures of Rocky's shaved chest and will have them posted as soon as they're developed.
Thanks to everyone who held my hand.
And thanks to everyone who told me that it'd likely be No Big Deal.

Yay! Whew!
Okay, now I can say what's been on my mind since you first wrote about this. A heart murmur was the first diagnostic sign of Buck's congestive heart failure. The follow-up x-ray showed profound enlargement of the entire heart.

I didn't want to mention it, since you already had enough worrying happening. }
