ok, what's the deal with this dog's ears?
usually they are sticky-up like this

but sometimes they do this

pits have naturally floppy ears right? so are hers somehow naturally sticky-up? or badly cropped? or mutant? or?
maybe she's mixed with something with sticky-up ears?

(actually i think she's part kangaroo)
thanks Emotion: smile

she's adorable! she looks to be all pit bull to me, and those are definately her natural ears. lots of pit bulls have weird ears. my girl Lola's sometimes flop forwards, sometimes stick straight up, and sometimes lay back in a nice "rose" position. usually, it's some combination or other. she's quite expressive with them. my favorite look is when she's curious about a strange noise. she'll *** her head to the side, and the ear on the down side is flopped forward and facing the noise, while the ear on the "up" side is sticking straight up in the air. it reminds me of "Petey" from "Our Gang".
here's my theory. pit bulls weren't usually bred for conformation until very recently, so there is a lot of variation in their looks. also, since many show breeders crop their dogs' ears, they probably don't consider ear "type" when picking their breeding stock.
is she your dog? she's a doll!

this is my favorite:

lol.
i don't think i've ever seen a pit like her. they're either cropped into those tiny little triangles, which i hate, or floppy, which i adore.

that makes sense.

congrats! she's a real beauty. i have two pits, one from a shelter, and the other from a rescue. here's Lola,
http://groups.msn.com/culprit/lola.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1265, (with weird ears). and here's Manu
http://groups.msn.com/culprit/manu.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=1291 (with a little Lab in him, so he has boring ears).
is she your first pit bull? they're a great breed. everywhere i take my dogs, someone walks up to me and says, "i had/have a pit bull. he/she is/was the best dog i ever had!"

yup, she is. it's strange the reactions i get to her. i get a lot of "oh i HATE pit bulls" but then they meet her in person and she tries to lick them to death and they're in love. other people are, like you said, "the best dog i ever had". no middle ground with these dogs, i guess.
she's got some issues, seperation anxiety being the most trying one at the moment, but she's really smart and just an absolute love.

this is so true.

Lola has a big problem with separation anxiety as well. she's a very sensitive girl, very submissive to both dogs and people. not at all what i had heard pit bulls were like (before i got her).
have fun with your new girl. there's a lot of great behavior/training advice at rec.pets.dogs.behavior. there are a couple of regular posters who have successfully dealt with SA in their dogs.
here are a few of my favorite pit bull links, just in case you're interested -)

she is a cutey! those ears are adorable. if she's still young though, there's a chance that they will eventually "flop" and look more like the average bully ear.
Beautiful dogs. Here's my boy
reallyy cute , Im not sure on what mix she/he could be but wow great photo.
Ps : she/he could use a nail clipping. :-))
