Hi ,
Kim went to the vet today with a re-occurrenceof cystitis and I've bought a plug- in feliway .
Does anyone else use this ? I didn't expect to smell anything but I can smell something !. The plug iself isn't hot but I can feel heat if I hold my hand over the diffuser and wondered if it's safe to leave in all the time?

I've got one running all the time. It gets a little warm but I wouldn't call it hot.
I don't smell anything with the one I have running.

Alison,
There is always some warmth from the Feliway diffusers, and the "stem" that extends from the lid to the base of the jar will eventually discolor and turn brown. I can't smell anything from mine unless I get very close to the diffuser. However, there is some scent when the spray is used; so it's possible you are getting a little extra from yours. Can you still detect an odor if you stand a few feet away? If so, you might want to exchange it.

I have used the diffusers in different parts of my home. I have smelled an odor with one of them..it's in the upstairs hallway. Whenever I plug a diffuser in there, I smell an odor. I think it's because it's in a smaller area, not in a room. With the diffusers that I have in bigger rooms (I have one in the living room and one in the family room) I do not smell an odor. So I really think it's the closed area where you get the smell. And yes, the diffusers are a little warm.

Hi ,
Thanks for all the replies. I had Kim's heat panel on at the same time. It's quite old and I think it got too hot for the armchair. Time to get a new one! I turned both off earlier and put the diffuser back on a few minutes ago and I can't smell anything.

I always notice an odor from a new dispenser, but after it's been plugged in for a while, the smell goes away.
I used Feliway for a couple months to help my older cats and kitten adjust. I never smelled anything. The cats did calm down but the kitten would have, anyway. I was home the first month to watch it and it got warm but seemed to be safe. Left it on when I went to Florida for the pet sitter's sake! So now we are getting along nicely without it. I guess it served its purpose.

I can only please one person a day.
Today is not your day.
Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
I bought it to help prevent my male (neutered) resident cat from (constantly) pouncing on my newly adopted (spayed) female cat. I haven't seen any improvement.
My sister uses one for their cats. She leaves it plugged in 24/7, & has never mentioned anything about a smell emanating from it.
