Hi All,
I have a dog who is perfectly housebroken, but doesn't get the whole "potty on command" thing. If we take him out and he doesn't have to go, he just doesn't do anything. If he fails to go during a walk, he will always hold it until the next time out, thank goodness. But it would sure give me less stress if he would go when it's convenient for me!
I do the bit where I tell him to "go potty" when we're outside, especially when he's actually going, then I lavish praise/treats on him afterwards. It just doesn't seem to do the trick. Any other suggestions for things to try?

I couldn't potty on command if i had to... unless I already had to. I think it's unreasonable to expect a dog to. The fact he tries would be good enough for me. If a dog is too much trouble for you, hire a dog walker.
