Around here, the vaccuum is the "Toy Pushing Machine" (he tosses his toys in front of it while I vaccuum and I shove them around while he tries to get/fetch them). Shelly & The Boys

Dylan attacks the vacuum cleaner. Viciously! She bit a hole in the bag of the first cleaner she attacked; its replacement has a hard bag cover. She's a scream to watch, but if we want to actually get any vacuuming done, she has to be banished to the deck.

I've lined my two up and read them this post. They do the opposite. They take the clothes from my ... "randomly" but it is never by the hampers or in the laundry area so I guess it's not completely random!

My dogs don't show much interest in "helping" me with laundry, but Oppie does distribute my socks around the house. When he wakes up in the morning, it's imperative that he put something in his mouth immediately to help him wag his way over to the bed to greet us, and since I always toss my socks next to the bed (never know when I'll wake up with cold feet), they're the most convenient object. He drops them sometime later on the way outside, in a place that's convenient whenever it's mandatory to be carrying something in his mouth.
Don't you love it when dogs think and try to figure US out?

Yup. They're probably better at it than we are for them.

Leah I am sure Madigan can clean the dishes. Maybe ... do a good job cleaning them, non the less. Gwen

All my dogs clean the dishes. They practically lick the glaze off the plates. Next two dogs we get are going to be called Soap and Water... as in, My dishes have been cleaned by Soap and Water. :-) FurPaw

That's cute! I like it.

I have the same thing going with two of my dogs. Blade and Reznor both do this and now they both believe they have bids on killing the vacuum cleaner. So banish it is.

Now if I could only teach Madigan to do the dishes and vacuum... :}

hehe...I've tried with Coda. He keeps telling me that the whole lack of thumbs thing is really slowing him down.

No excuse. Spenser is willing to pre-wash each dish as I load it in the dishwasher. Well, except the yucky ones. He'll wash a coffee cup out until it shines!
And Sassy is our little vacuum cleaner. And wet mop. Each morning she polices the entire house, checking out every corner and working her way into the center of the room. Licking all the time. Our hardwood floors have very strange marks on them when the sun shines.
Oh, and both dogs stand between me and the counter anytime there is food being prepared - just in case something drops to the floor I don't have to strain my back or knees picking it up. Three second rule - hah!

Storm's just the opposite:
She is, generally, a worrier, but not about the vacuum. She'll hang around and get underfoot until I give up and vacuum her for a little while. If she looked any happier while I vaccumed her, she'd start drooling.

Thanks - but it's not original. It comes from a joke I once heard.

Ah, if only Dylan felt that way about being vacuumed herself! She's a long-haired GSD, and it would surely simplify my life if she'd stand still for a daily vacuuming.

Kira... in fact, all my dogs do the dishes. You just wouldn't want to eat off of them when they're done. ;-)
