Today, one of my dogs really impressed me. Not in agility, no competition of any sort, but doing housework.
Yep, you read that right. Housework. I was doing laundry, taking stuff out of the dryer. I couldn't grab it all, so I hauled what I could down the hall to the bedroom, leaving the dryer door open. I dumped what I had on the bed, and turned around in time to see Kira trotting down the hall with one of my husband's t-shirts in her mouth. She trotted right up to me and dropped it at my feet, then looked at me, slightly cocking her head as if to say 'Well, what do ya think about that?'

Whatta dog.

I've lined my two up and read them this post. They do the opposite. They take the clothes from my pile and deposit them randomly throughout the house. Well, I say "randomly" but it is never by the hampers or in the laundry area so I guess it's not completely random!

Don't you love it when dogs think and try to figure US out?

Leah I am sure Madigan can clean the dishes. Maybe not with soap but I bet she can do a good job cleaning them, non the less.

hehe...I've tried with Coda. He keeps telling me that the whole lack of thumbs thing is really slowing him down.
Around here, the vaccuum is the "Toy Pushing Machine" (he tosses his toys in front of it while I vaccuum and I shove them around while he tries to get/fetch them).

Whatta dog.

How cool is that? Now to put it on cue, get her to figure out how to load the washer, select the right settings.. Maybe you can rent her out and she can really earn her keep :-)
Pan is my "helper" around here. Her idea of helping is to stand there, with her big ole head right in the middle of whatever I am doing. Like digging holes for the plants. She does help me dig, but after I have put my plants in the ground. She then gets that 'What did I do?' look on her face when I ask her to stop.

that's harriet's idea of helping. elliott is much better at it. he'll actually pick up their toys when i vacuum. of course, when i'm finished, harriet "helps" by getting them all back out again. brat.

shelly (perfectly foul wench) and elliott and harriet http://home.bluemarble.net/~scouvrette

All my dogs clean the dishes. They practically lick the glaze off the plates. Next two dogs we get are going to be called Soap and Water... as in, My dishes have been cleaned by Soap and Water.
