Think Puppy Thoughts - and let me know if you ... to go with C Sirius Black. (probably male).

"Wiz"?

Hmmm..
Appropriate for a boy who's likely to keep his bits for a while...

Cerberus Sirius Black. Call name "Styx".

C is already fixed.
Styx is still a very cool name. There are, I think, two problems:

It's a standing joke in the retriever world that you never, never let your dog fetch sticks, or it'll get the first stick it comes across in the pond and forget all about your duck.
Second, and more of an issue, is that dogs in CKC tests may only go after
1) released by the judge and then 2) released by the handler. Judgessometimes say, "dog" when it's time to go. Other times, they say the dog's number from the catalog. Most of us then send the dog by saying its name.

Could be a disaster if I happen to be honouring for dog number "Six." Unfortunately, therefore, no names that sound like "Dog" or a number.

In other news, My next dog's mum is in Georgia, having a hot date with a very nice boy this ... know if you can think of a good call name to go with C Sirius Black. (probably male).

Hmm...I think that is such a Belgian name. My boss at work says to me, "hey, isn't that dog in the Harry Potter movie like yours?" (referring to Sirius
in dog form)
Well...okay, maybe if I didn't brush him for a couple of months, drug him through
a swamp, and then gave him growth hormones!
I'm looking at a possible breeding that is due to take place late summer. However,
the potential poppa is still up for debate, so I'm keeping my options open until after
then. (Breeder hopes to find someone nice at the Specialty)
Incidentally, Shelly, the link to Bodhi's page is broken on your front page, although it works from the Coda page.

Thanks, I fixed it. :-)

In the Harry Potter series, the kids were supposed to call Sirius Black "Snuffles" as a code name.

Well, again: there are only so many perfect black dog names, and that is one of 'em. Sirius has always been my favourite HP character, and there's a nice audible pun in the name, because I haven't yet actually met a serious flatcoat.
I have no idea what I'll do if a girl comes home. The breeder wants the word "star" in the name somewhere - and I'm pushing my luck with the boy name by insisting that Sirius *is* a star, dangit.

Hey, thanks! I forgot about that...

Like "Zoe" and "Queenie"???
The Queener came with her name and a seemingly large proportion of people think I'm calling her "Weenie" so I can't really recommend it to others.

Sirius Black is a Great Name! I tried to get the owner of a trial lab I puppy raised to name him "Quidditch Challenge" and call him "Seeker". This was before the 1st movie. She went with the call name but not the registered. (I think he became CK's Seeker.)
Sirius gave Harry a Nimbus 2000 - not that it fits exactly, but "Nimbus" would be a neat call name.
Best of luck in your hunt tests. Remember to have fun!

Thank you! We have two Seasoned this weekend, and a total of two more Seasoned and six Senior in the next two months. We should have lots of fun this spring.
Although I really wish it weren't going to rain all weekend..
