Hi Group,
I took Rhuni to the Vet on Wednesday, and
they found a lump in the area around the
Lymph nodes - they're not sure what it is.
Preliminary tests showed her liver and
kidney functions were normal, but her red
blood cell count was low. The Vet put her
on Amoxycillin, Flagyl, and the vitamin
supplement 'Pet tinic', as well as a/d diet
food.
He also decided to send her blood to the
lab for more extensive tests. Yesterday, I
got the lab results, which showed a slight
problem with a protein level, but, most
notable was that it was positive for FeLV.
She had the FeLV vaccination and the
boosters about a year and a half ago
when Butchie got sick, so apparently the
virus is still present in the home
environment... not good news, indeed!
She is now taking Interferon. Her appetite
is good and she's drinking water. I've
noticed that her stool is more firm since
she started the meds... so, only time will
tell, I suppose...

Good luck and keep us posted. I hope she does not remain infected Emotion: sad

Cats vaccinated for FeLV and FIV always show antibodies. That's one of the problems with the vaccine, according to the latest documents I've read - you can't tell if the cat is one of the 15% that get infected despite the vaccine or if the antibodies are just from getting the vaccine.
Hope she is okay...
Purrs.

All I ask for is the chance to prove that money
cannot make me happy.

Yes, that's the conundrum... it could be FeLV,
then again...
In any case, I will continue the meds and hope
for the best. Thanks for the purrs!
BTW, the Dr. Laura thingy on your website...
had me ROTFLMAO... good stuff

Bummer, Ollie. Best wishes that if it isn't caused by the vax that she clears it. Hey, you've had it happen before! Emotion: smile Keep us updated, please? Shadow isn't going to clear it after this amount of time, I don't think but he's hanging in there. The IBD seems more worrisome. Kitties are sending purrs that the lump is nothing. Take care.
