Okay, I've been through another Trainer's Rite of Passage. I had my first in-home private session. The hardest part about it was keeping it down to an hour.

It's supposed to be per hour. I'm the same way in my classes - I'll stay as long as people want for the puppy play sessions. My classes are usually about 1-1/2 hours.

you'll change when you get more business and people start taking advantage of your time. I finally changed my pricing structure to have th first visit be a flat fee. that way nobody is watching the clock and i don;t get cheated.

Oh yea, I'm very flexible right now with time. When things pick up I'm going to have to be more structured.

Well, it's never a dull moment. I was hired because the dog stays in the owners' office, and starts whining when it gets near 5:00. So we worked on putting "hush" on cue, and also I suggested a stuffed kong coming out at 4:45-ish, before the whining starts. They do take her for a lot of walks, short and long, throughout the day. That would have been one of my suggestions.
The owners mentioned that she has run out the door a couple of times, and won't come when she's called outside. So I also suggested we work on teaching her to wait at doors, and also gave them exercises to strengthen her come.

It's more fun that a scheduled lesson, because you can play it by ear - address whatever comes up.
