@attbi s53:

One of my neighbors when I lived more rurally had plastic cats climbing her gutters.

That reminds me of a discovery I've made as a new Baltimoron: the cats (plastic?) attached to the outside walls ... they're just climbing straight up the house's walls you know, like cats always do and pause to look down at you. WTF?

I dunno, I'm not sure that's quite as alarming as the atomic mushrooms and mutant butterflies.
: Heh. You've obviously never been to Philly or Bawlmer. What, you mean rats and opossums and pigeons don't count?

"Rats" is misleading. If you've only ever seen rats from other states then seeing one from Philly is shocking. They're ... Same with bunny rabbits. Had them coming out our ears up there but you never see a bunny down here.

Oh we get them all. Possums, bunnies, squirrels, loads of racoons. Last night I was walking around sunset and a pack of coyote started singing. Eerie, beautiful, and I confess just a bit alarming since I could tell they were very close. However, they are extremely well fed around here and not likely to take on a human and 2 adult dobermans. I know if there had been camels and reindeer that I would have immediately gotten a disposable camera from the nearest mini-mart!

There's a double-wide near here that for a few years had a Christmas tallywhacker in front -

Damn. I just spit coffee on my keyboard.

I love it! I totally feel the same way. And I have a pretty good idea of where I can get one this weekend.
Just keep in mind that some of the people who don't get it may be very personally hurt and offended by it, rather than just annoyed.

Yeah. And take down those Christmas trees, too. And the Menorahs. And the American flags. And the Bush-Cheney yard signs. And the Pro-Life bumper stickers.
Hell, even hide your Wal-Mart shopping bags (that one's just for you, Mel)!
We wouldn't want to "personally hurt" or "offend" any commie pinko atheist liberals.
Yeah.
Riight.

Question for Tavis Smiley:What's more diverse these days NPR or President Bush's Cabinet?

Bush's Cabinet. It is ironic that a Republican President has an Administration that is more inclusive and more diverse than a so-called liberal-media-elite network. Tavis Smiley

They're also likely to incorrectly conclude you're a racist, which you may not want.
You can get around that problem by dressing the lawn jockey in a tutu.

If the fact that you have or don't have a lawn jockey on your property is what neighbors are using when determining your bona fides in the community, you should probably move somewhere else.

Because you're likely surrounded by some really stupid people.

And you never know what stupid people might do next.

Oh yeah. And be sure never to use the word "***," either.

Because some really stupid commie pinko liberal might come along and burn down your freakin' house.

Having a lawn jockey on one's property isn't necessarily a testament to one's bona fides, but it might well be an indication that one is a racist. I think I've known one (1) person who had a lawn jockey, and he's definitely a racist.
