Three months ago I adopted a stray. At first he (we) had a housetraining problem, but thanks to the excellent advice I received on this newsgroup, he is now a thoroughly integrated member of the household. He's a mixed breed, unfixed, maybe a year and a half, shy but friendly, eager to please, and very energetic (fortunately I have a big yard for him to play in). But he has one behavior pattern that neither I nor anyone who has visited my place have ever seen in a dog.
He doesn't bark much, but one time he always goes crazy is when I or anyone else gets into a vehicle and shuts the door. He barks like mad and runs around the vehicle. But it stops as soon as he sees the vehicle leaving, and he never utters a peep when a vehicle arrives (all he does then is come over in a friendly but shy manner to see who gets out). He pays no attention to vehicles driving by on the road. Opening the window and talking to him when he starts to bark seems to have no effect. He might hesitate briefly but then keeps on barking.
This behavior is not really a problem, although I could do without it, but I'm curious as to why he might be doing this. If it's abandonment anxiety I don't see how this could explain why he does it with people he's barely met, and haven't paid much attention to him (he even did it with a salesman who didn't like him at all).
Any theories?

Does he appear to have any herding breed(s) in the mix? My Sheltie goes NUTS when anyone leaves (not when they come, just when they leave). I always figured it's part of her instinct to keep her 'flock' together.

Like his previous rpd posts, the OP's post pushes a bunch of buttons which may or may not lead one to google a posting history.

I'm confused (but then its late and New Puppy has had a bad tummy the last few nights, so I'm SLEEPY). I didn't see any posts originating from his email addy to rpd.
What'd I miss?

I'm clueless here (not unusual). However, I do know I missed PICS OF THE NEW PUP FROM TARA, ahem. I hope she's feeling better, *if* she even exists. ;-)

Tara is being VERY coy, or superstitious, or something. We only know of Her Cuteness from descriptions.

Ditto that.
So, did you get out there and meet any of the GRs, missy?

We are meeting Scotty on Sunday. I'm trying to remain calm and detached... for now.

I've only posted here once before, back in August. Do you have anything intelligent to say about the topic of this thread?

I have quite a few that I took with my new Dash(tm) phone..unfortunately I can't figure out how to set up my phone email in order tyo send them to anyone (I can't even send them to myself!!)
To add insult to injury, my dvd drive in my laptop has ceased to exist (right around the exact second I tried to install the software that allows my computer to sinc up with said Dash phone). The kicker here is that without the use of the dvd device, I have zero idea how to reinstall the driver fromt he original disks..seeing as I need to install it from a disk, but can't use that device.
Anyone have any tips? And these tips should not include "go buy a digital camera", because that's NOT in the budget right now :-)

Oh, and the "short" list of names is this:
(yes, this is the SHORT version..down from a list of 40 names. This is why it always takes me forever to name my pets)

Cady (one of my faves)
Annie (still in my top three)
Emma
Maya (my other real "short list" fave)
Orly
Shaina
Tate
Becky
Kylie (This one is my least favorite, soundwise, but one of her top choices. Might not be bad if names have an actual impact on personality, because her recall would be a forgone conclusion! :-)
Of course, without a picture, you guys can't really help :-)

Oh well. Its been so much fun trying out different sounds and names and seeing what she responds to, and what makes her roll her eyes at me. She's really good at giving glinty, sarcastic eye rolls.
