I've got a 14 1/2 yr old Border Collie / Lab cross and being summer I've just fitted a ceiling fan. I didn't really give it a thought but when Ben came upstairs and pushed the door open he got a bit of a fright, and is now terrified of going near the offending room.
Things have been compounded further by the new addition of a pedestal fan downstairs, which isn't too bad for him until it's stopped and the blade movement becomes apparent.
We've no idea why fans freak him out after all this time unless it's an age related problem, but do you guys have any recommendations as to what we can do to ease this fear?
TIA Ian

Yes, act like it's no big deal. As in pretty much ignore his "fear" of the new fans. His desire to be with his God (i.e., you) should eventually overcome his trepidations.
He'll get used to the new fans in time, provided there's nothing about his advanced age that may be contributing to his reactions (problems with hearing, vision, etc.).
Give him a few more days. In the meantime, go about your routine as if there's nothing new going on.
Let's see what happens. If he remains fearful, it might be a good time for a trip to the vet.
Good luck!
