the brainless, toothless, inbred Brits Laurie

Aww Laurie that was cruel!! How can you say that about our allies?
One thing our "American Basher" seems to forget. The United States is largely responsible for the world being as free ... invasion would be very impractical, if not impossible, because all her citizens were too well armed. Now THAT is freedom!

Very good! Love my Canadian neighbors!
America owes most of her post war technological advances to the European

scientific brainpower which she gained through the immigrant flood between 1945 and 1960. Birdman.

And the nazi bomb and rocket makers they brought to the usa from germany. They wouldnt have got into space without the germans.
One thing our "American Basher" seems to forget. The United States is largely responsible for the world being as free as it is.

Bollocks
Americans have fought and died so that other people could have the right to be prejudiced,
narrow-minded fools.

Bollocks
No matter what happens in the world, America is there.
Yeh, guns blazing.
When even her greatest enemies are struck with disaster and calamity, who does the world look to? The USA.

And we think, oh no not another Vietnam.
Americans are not paranoid nor are they deranged.
Bollocks.
They are a practical, fair minded folk.
Bollocks.
They are generous and forgiving.
Bollocks.
They are industrious and hardworking.
Bollocks.
They care deeply about their rights and freedoms and guard them carefully.
Bollocks.
For those of you who wish to deride Americans, just take a moment to review history and realize where you might be now if it wasn't for this wonderful people and great nation.
Bollocks.
Those who deride America and hurl insults are simple reacting out of childish jealousy.

Bollocks.
Those who hate American and her citizens also hate freedom and liberty.
Bollocks.
They would take away our right to choose and force usto accept their warped view of how things should be.
Bollocks.
If you hate America, then you are a kindred spirit to Osama Bin Laden and his cohorts.
Bigger Bollocks.
One more thing. I am a Canadian.

And a very sad canadian with a brown nose.
A Soviet General Secretary was asked once if they would ... not impossible, because all her citizens were too well armed.

Bollocks.
Now THAT is freedom!
That was a load of canadian bollocks from someone with their nose implanted up a usa ass.
And nowhere in any of my posts have i said i hate americans or america. You must be paranoid!
You know, I don't think that this person has much of a vocabulary. I am not going to bother getting into a battle of wits with this individual - it is not fair to fight those who are unarmed.
I know, I know...Bollocks!
hehehe

I dont believe you have bollocks at all andrew.I am not in a battle of wits with anyone, i just hate the accepted view of americans that birds should and need to have their wings clipped, the accepted view that pellets are a necessity and that birds have to be taken for walks wearing diapers, flight suits and even tethered by the leg as suggested by one american. Why are all these things needed in america when these things are frowned upon by the rest of the world? You take what your vet says as gospel when few vets are animal behaviourists or nutritionalists.

They are told what sells and what doesnt, they get paid to clip, they sell pellets, they sell flight suits. They are out to make money just like any business. americans are a misguided, ignorant and brainwashed race, way behind the rest of the birdkeeping world. You need educating for the sake of your birds.
Ah, my prejudiced fellow bird lover. You paint with broad strokes and condemn the masses without investigating the facts.

I respond because you have brought forth some valid points worth discussing:
1) Wing clipping. I disagree with it. My birds are not clipped. Birds bytheir very nature need to fly. We have just bought 3.5 acres of land and are building a house on it. One of the considerations for us selecting this property was to have the room for a nice, outdoor, free flight aviary. Not all of us 'across the pond' are beholden to the philosophy of wing clipping. I am not stating that wing clipping is wrong, I am just saying that I disagree with the practice. If someone chooses to clip, then that is up to them. I would hope that they would choose not to, but it is not for me to condemn them for doing so.
2) I do not use 'flight suits'. With regard to leg tethering, that is nota recommended practice for parrots, their legs are not strong enough to handle it. With love and patience, we are teaching our birds to fly to us upon request. Note I did not say 'command'. I don't believe in forcing birds to do anything against their will (which usually winds up creating its own set of issues). We feel that this training is invaluable should either bird get outside. Once this training gets to a point where it is very consistent, then we may take the next step and try limited outside interactions in as much as a controlled environment as we can manage. That is where an outside free flight aviary would be beneficial.
3) Feed. I feed my birds three types of pellets, a nice Conure seed mixand millet spray. They also get peanut butter, bread, salads, vegetables, fruit and whatever else they can steal off my plate (My birds are with the family at supper and usually dine off my plate while I am eating). I do not allow them to eat harmful foods.
4) Educating. Well, my friend, if you want to educate people, you aregoing about it in the most crass, stupid way imaginable. Your posts are totally ineffective on this list. No one will bother to give any credence to a hate spewing loud mouth. If you want to teach, you must first earn respect. It could be argued that you are using this forum as an excuse to attack America to vent your hatred.Let me relate a story to you that I read as a child: "The Sun and the Wind were having an argument as to who could make the man walking along the road remove his coat. Both were saying that they could do it where the other could not. Finally they decided to put it to the test. The Wind went first. He blew. He blew long and hard. The man, feeling the great wind, clutched his coat around himself tighter and tighter as the wind blew harder and harder.

After a while, the Wind gave up and told the Sun to do his best. The Sun simply smiled down on the man and let his radiance shine. As the Sun beamed down on the man, the man began to loosen his coat. In a short while, the man removed his coat. The Sun was victorious where the Wind failed."
You sir, are the Wind in this case. You may blow long and hard and the fruits of your labors will only result in the people drawing their coats around them tighter. Believe it or not, I do not hate you, nor do I dislike you. I am not even angry with you. I am however, disappointed that you are expressing your heartfelt beliefs in such a childish, ineffective manner.

Andrew.
Ah, my prejudiced fellow bird lover. You paint with broad strokes and condemn the masses without investigating the facts. I ... with you. I am however, disappointed that you are expressing your heartfelt beliefs in such a childish, ineffective manner. Andrew.

Nice post, Andrew. I read every word. I may not agree with everything you said, but you had my full attention.

Sincerely,
Joanne
