I am looking for opinions on books that will help me train my dogs. I went to the bookstore and there are tons of books. I need opinions.

Thanks

There's three basic categories of books you will find:
1. Koehler Nazis/Modernized K.Nazisthey preach obedience via choke chain
and dominance. Most of these books are older.
Newer books in this category will tout
shock collars more than choke chains.
2. Control freakism/Toxic Mommyism. Dogs are bad,cut off their balls, put them in a cage, don't
let them have any fun, have a time out, nothing
in life is free or fun blah blah blah. These are
newer and probably the most prevalent, much to my
unending chagrin.
3. Mystical/theoretical/psychobabblical. There are manysubcategories within this one, and books in this
category are generally the newest. Some books project the idea that being a dog and exhibiting dog
behavior is evidence of some sort of disease which needs to be scientifically diagnosed and treated.
Or better yet, "calmed" with "calming signals"
So, now you are briefed, armed with that knowledge ahead of time, you should be able to find one which isn't totally objectionable, if you look hard. But you'll have to look hard.
hope that heelps!

His latest book is Before and after getting your puppy. I dont know any one who has read it and I was wondering whether to recommend it or not.

I haven't read it, but I'd still recommend it. The author knows what he's talking about, and the title sounds pretty spot on for a new puppy owner. :}
