Tuck and Yorik traveled to Maryland in July and performed a tricky dog show that was video taped. Some of you have requested a copy of the video.

Here is your chanceThe Tricky Dog Show Video is now available by making a donation to JNMRF "Special Vet Care." Pam McNamara will be sending the DVD to you as a thank you gift for your donation. I understand she already has received some donations and is just waiting for the DVDs to arrive from WI to PA so she can send them out. The cost of duplication as well as postage has been covered by an anonymous source. Therefore, all donations go directly to the dogs in need.

Write a check or use Pay Pal. Either way, your donation is tax deductible. Check out the JNMRF rescue page for addresses and connections. Kaycee, and many others like her, need moose magic, tireless workers, and health care financial help to find a better life. With so many recent rescues in dire need, and more rescues coming in daily, the JNMRF needs our generous help.

They are nice dogs. Rudy looks like a very good Elkhound. Moose and Sage are so cute; I am glad they might get adopted now. I notice a lot of these dogs are overweight; do they gain weight easily?

Almost all abuse cases in rescue come in overweight. Most people think they are treating them well by feeding them the minimum 3 1/2 cups of food for their weight as recommended by the dog food labels. I have 2 highly active dogs, and they each eat a 1/2 cup and 3/4 cup a day. For a beagle half the weight, I have to feed 3 times that. Elkhounds are very efficient, and the one thing we tell new owners .. DO NOT FEED THEM!!!
You really CAN'T feed an elkhound. They have, for thousands of years endured hardships in weather extremes, and only the sturdiest, most efficient survived.

I sent them $30 by PayPal on August 28, but have not received any confirmation. It was to John Nelsen Moosedog Rescue Fund. There was nothing on the web pages about the video, and I did not see a specific way to designate it for "Special Vet Care". I hope they are just so overwhelmed with donations that they have not had time to respond. I will email them to get the status. I look forward to seeing the video. Hey, after all, *I* am in it!

Thanks. I sent them an email as well. I hope this brings in a flood of donations for the rescue and the vet care.
Was the second show on the video also? Looking forward to seeing it.

Maybe this could be used as a way to get donations for other rescues? I think quite a few people would be willing to spend some money to get DVDs of dogs doing tricks, or even just doing goofy dog things, or maybe a demonstration of some training tips. It doesn't cost a whole lot to produce a simple video, and maybe some students could volunteer to do the special effects and editing that can add a professional touch.

I think it would be fun to use a MuttleyCam on your dogs (and others) to get a video from the dog's point of view. See
