would be good for the "stinkpot" musk turtles. It was ... maximum size of about 3 inches in diameter. Later all!

Just splitting hairs - but I'd say they get closer to 4 or 5 inches in length (straight carapace). Also, if you plan on having more than 1 be aware that males tend to bite one another hard enough to remove toes. -Z

That's cool. Thanks for the tip on the males. Tell me - do mud turtles do that (i.e. bite off toes in fights with other males)? That fighting might very well be removed by me just getting mud turtles. Boy, those musk turtles must bite HARD! If I have enough of a choice I will probably get 1 male musk turtle and 2 female musk turtles. Thanks for the tip (it gets me to exercise my previous disclaimer at the very least as I have by no means given up on musk turtles yet)! Don't get me wrong - I love mud turtles too, and 4-5 inches diameter for the smallest musk turtle is good enough for me! Later!

I've not seen mud turtles do it but I've not seen 2 male mud turtles kept together. Seems to me that there would be a good chance of it. Male turtles in general tend to be fairly obnoxious when courting, and not too picky about whom they court. The solution would be to get a male and a female or two females of whichever species you decide on.
