Wenesday and Thursday morning early
Blade vomited. Which of course
this was of very much concern.
I took his x-rays to his regular
vet yesterday for her to look
at the stones. I was never
able to get her by phone because
she was out and about all day
long as she is a mobil vet. The
downside of her practice in
one way.
She looked at the x-ray. The stones
he has are not gall stones(I think
DH misunderstood the one Vet)
but rather bladder stones. She informed
me that some bladder stones
can be dissolved. So I am going
to have to catch urine and give her
a sample. If they can't be dissolved
he will have to undergo yet
another surgery soon to remove
them.
He will have to have a change of diet
from the Canidae and now I am
looking for a new type of food.
I am wondering which company
makes food that is venison and
rice or venison and something
or duck. Does anyone know who
makes this kind of mixture.
I am on one hand inclined to
feed the "Wellness" fish and sweet
potatoe but I wasn't that impressed
with "Wellness" the one time I did
buy it.
These stones of course are similar
to what cats get when they have
the crystalization or urinary tracy
problem.

Yes, IVD (Innovative Veterinary Diets) makes venison + carb source and duck + carb source. (Carb source could be rice or potatoes, don't recall which goes with which.) They also make a kangaroo formula and a rabbit formula. Your vet should be able to order it thru a veterinary supplier. You used to be able to buy it on waggintails.com, but I guess Heinz *** that.

I don't know if they'd deliver to you, but worth asking!

Thank you Abby!! I women at the Vet's office last
night did mention she obtained something like
the above from her other Vet's office. More than
likely it was the above.
Thank you so much. I will ask my Vet if she
can order it for me.
I wonder which would be better? I am leaning
towards venison because it is low in fat.

You're welcome. Emotion: smile Probably best to ask her which she'd prefer he was on, as I don't know a whole lot about uroliths(stones) and their dietary treatments.

Thank you Abby. I am on the web page now.
I will find out. Is this something I can feed
all of them or just Blade?
Well Reznor's breeder wants him eating
Eukanuba for medium size puppies. What
is your opinion on this food? I used it
the first month adding a little bit of
Canidae until he finally was switched.
Now I have sort of lost faith in Canidae.
But I know that it ridiculous, it is just
Blade and the food doesn't agree with him.

California Natural does.
But of course, run it by your vet first,
since Blade is having so many problems right now.

Thanks Terri. So does Nature's Recipe.
Though I am reluctant about that.
I will most certainly run options
by my Vet.
He really is having some problems
for a dog that will be 5 on
Dec. 10. Who would think
this? Especially when I thought
I was feeding him good food.

- Just don't go with a fish one, as Blade will get really stinky. We once bought a salmon kibble for Ezra and lord oh lord it was impossible to be in the same house as her. Since then we have stuck with chicken and rice. Oddly enough tuna is okay that leaves no smell...(yes she gets tuna with Pasta sometimes) I don't know why salmon smell when tuna doesn't. Perhaps it has got something to do with the way is has been processed.
