dogs that would eat me for lunch (cane corso, fila, etc)

You're okay with having dogs that'd eat babies for lunch, as long as they wouldn't attempt to eat you?

Just wondering what breeds you guys really like out there. I'm a dog lover and it's rare that I meet any dogs that I seriously dislike.

Friendly dogs. Any type of friendly dog is at the very top of my list. I'm not planning to live with a Golden in this lifetime but anything up to that level of friendliness is okay with me.
Dogs that don't shed. (Hence, I'm never planning to live with a Golden.)

Dogs that think. I LIKE a dog that outsmarts me once in a while. I LIKE a dog with a sense of humor.
Well-bred dogs of almost any breed. Just because I don't want to live with them doesn't mean I can't appreciate them at YOUR house.

I have discovered that I like dogs with beards. All the schnauzers. Irish Wolfhounds. I have no explanation for this affinity.

I made a list a while back of the breeds that I would like to own. DH was really surprised by some of the dogs on the list. Unfortunately, I'll never live long enough to make it through the list.
Besides each of the schnauzers, I'd like (in no particular order) A really nice Lab.
A well-bred GSD.
A Brittany.
A Cocker. *I'm thinking one of Melissa's well-rounded, great temperament ones.)
A Beagle.
An Irish Wolfhound.
A Papillon.
A Standard Poodle.
A Basset Hound.
An APBT.
A Border Terrier.
A French Bulldog.
Mostly if I don't like a dog, it's the individual dog that I don't like. I don't like overly aggressive dogs. I don't like yappy dogs. I like dogs who have some basic manners, either naturally or trained.

There are breeds that I just don't understand. Chinese Cresteds, for instance. Lowchen. Italian Greyhounds. I like the English Bulldog but wish the breeders (and the buyers) would return the dog to what it was meant to be.

Hard question... most of my favorite favorites have been mixes. Collie x Pyr, Nicky (black and tan Miscellaneous), GSD x Saint Bernard, Cockapoo. What I want is a dog that is confidant enough to go anywhere, trainable, friendly but independant, not clingy or a synchophant. Active, so it can go hiking, swimming and biking with me. I like furry, but don't want to have to get stuff done professionally.
Favorites:
Terriers: Irish and Airedale. I like bold, brash dogs. Norfolk Terrier
Carolina Dog
PON (no, I won't try to spell it)
Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
Beauceron
A really good German Shepherd
Rottweiler
English Shepherd
Dalmatian
Poodles - all three sizes
Collies - of course
I love spaniels, most especially Welsh Springer, but also Cocker, Cavalier, and Field
Great Pyrenees
Kooikerhondje - this is the one I'll probably add to the family next, as in after I graduate.
Dislikes:
I don't like smush faces, short legs, or tails that curl over the dog's back so you're always looking at its ass. I'd like corgis if they had legs - most of them seem to have nice personalities.

My goldens don't shed. They are field bred. I do not brush or wash them. They swim occasionally, some times of year more than others. I don't vacume or sweep more than once every week or two, and even then it is more for the dirt they've tracked in than the hair. There are a few minor "hair-bunnies"under furniture or in out of the way corners, but nothing to compare to the hair my friends with labs contend with.
Good food is one factor; breeding is another (true field-bred goldens don't have all that "fluff" coat) and physical and mental health is probably also as important.
Dogs that think. I LIKE a dog that outsmarts me once in a while. I LIKE a dog with a sense of humor.

Oh, you'd LOVE SheBop, then. ;->
I think lots of dogs are very very cute. I just don't understand anyone wanting to OWN anything other than a field-bred golden. I mean, how can you improve on perfection??

I don't dislike any entire breeds but the ones on the top of my do-not-own-list: most breeds noted for herding/pointing/hunting/guarding

This made me chuckle. That's most dogs! ;-)
Not that it's a criticism coming from me. I love pretty much all dogs but wouldn't want to live with most of them. Most notably very human-focused/dependent breeds or dogs that have a strong odor and/or drool. They are all fun to know and befriend, however. I think every type of dog has good qualities.
Obviously Basenjis are my most very favorite and I enjoy them no end. It really is "my" breed.

When I was a kid my parents and grandparents always had corgis, they suffer from short dog syndrome. Arrogant, bossy dogs, sorry if I have offended anyone but I have found in multi dog households these dogs are overly dominant.

Just wondering what breeds you guys really like out there.

After seeing a Spinone on tv I thought 'maybe I could learn to live with a bearded dog.' Those dogs are seriously cute.
As for breeds that I've actually met, I like the temperament of and would consider owning:
Labs (of course)
Boston Terriers
Pit Bulls
French Bulldogs
Boxers
Standard Poodles
I guess from this list it's easy to tell I like dogs that make me laugh. Aside from a disposition suited to being a family pet, my biggest requirement is no professional grooming. I'm entirely too lazy to keep up with that requirement. So I guess I'll have to get over that should I ever decide a poodle is for me after all.

Why, you get a proper German Shepherd, silly.

If you like silly dogs that make you laugh, you need a Toklat.
