I'm reposting since no one answered my first post. First a little info. My friend had the snake for 3 years. It lives in a 75 gallon tank, proper heat and humidity for a ball python. They arnt retained eye caps because my friend makes sure wth everyshed that the eye caps are on the skin. The snake has a nice weight to it even tho it has went off feed but my friend says the snake always stops eating every winter.

I couldnt hear the snake breathing, it has no mucous coming from its nose or mouth and there was no open mouth breathing. Everytime the snake sheds its eyes look better but then they get bad again. They are blue in the pics because it is getting ready to shed again. There is no mites either. What do you guys thing is wrong?
Every chatroom ive asked says they look like retained eyecaps but if the eyecaps come off with everyshed then it cant be retained eyecaps. Also this problem has just recently arised, like i said my friend has had the snake for 3 years, nothing has changed with its care and all a sudden this problem arises. He is going to get the snake into a vet but i told him id post around and see if you guys can give me your opinions. Pics are here scaryness/album?.dir=/46eb&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/miss scaryness/my photo s

Is it possible that your friend isn't the first owner and that these are indeed retained eyecaps, still from when the snake had another person (not) caring for it?

I've no idea what it is. But I'd love to hear what the vet says.

These indeed could be old retained caps from a long time ago. Snakes can shed the most recent caps but still retain older caps. The other possibility could be that the cornea of the snake is damaged & has become opaque. I'm unable to tell which one is the problem without actually examining the animal. snake lady

It does look like the snake has shedding issues. Do you have a moisture box to aid ball to shed? Balls do best with moisture boxes rather than keeping the overall cage humidity high enough for the animal to properly shed. With he humidity that high you'd risk skin infections,i.e.,"belly rot". snake lady

I have seen a snake where it had retained eye caps and the owner thought he would pull them off. He ended up removing the retained eye caps as well as the cornea causing something like this snakes eyes. Removing eye caps is something that should not be done without knowing the proper technique. I hope for the snake's sake this isn't what has happened. But it sure looks like it!
