Forgot to add- A. Marie's in Canada, IIRC, so I doubt that what her instructor is teaching is the AKC version, and B. Marie's dog wouldn't be eligible to participate in AKC Rally in any case.

Sarah, your paranoia is showing. a) I had no idea that Canada or APDT sanction rally trials - neither exist in my area. And b) I obviously know something you don't: AMBOR is going to start offering rally titles, and their rules are going to be taken straight from AKC's. Therefore information about what AKC rally entails *is* in fact relevant to someone with a mixed-breed.
Y'know, you could have just said something like "APDT offers a slightly different version of rally" and given more information about that. Too bad you chose instead to turn this into just another opportunity to bash AKC and the people who participate in AKC events.
Dianne
(who, just for the record, has earned far more non-AKC than AKC titles)
My point is, and was, that Dianne's reply about "what AKC intends Rally to be" seems to me to be A. inaccurate in that the AKC did not invent Rally and B. irrelevant as regards Macula, since she's not purebred and not in the States.

Fine. Let me rephrase my sentence, then, in a way that perhaps better conveys the substance of what I was trying to say:

AKC intends >ITS VERSION OFMORE DIFFICULT THANLESS DIFFICULT THAN
There. Feel better now?

What's that got to do with AKC's
intentions for the sport?

I was confusing the Dog Trainers association with Pit Bull breed club, sorry.

... thereby totally proving your point about the Association of Pet Dog Trainers' lack of public recognition :-).

Yeah! Actually, what are the Pit Bull association/registry initials? I must being having a really long brainfart.

It is difficult to commit to living where we are, how we are. It is difficult and it is necessary.

Thanks. I think I was thinking of the APBR when I saw APDT. I know, not even close but APBT and APDT are close. I'm going to re-bury my head in the sand now.

You have to remember that AKC would have to change it's mission statement to allow it, and personally I doubt that's going to happen. I had dinner a couple of months ago with a rep and a judge, and they say the rumors are only that... rumors. One of them brought up not only the mission statement, but the extreme difficulty of getting into events in some parts of the country. AKC's mission is to support the sport of purebred dogs. Without changing their mission statement, they'd have to go to unlimited events everywhere to avoid legal challenge. {This per the rep.}
Ain't gonna happen, at least until a lot of the greybeards die off. Hell, most of them still hate the 'circus dogs'.
Debbie
Well, see, since it's the bad, ugly AKC, it can't possibly be something good after all, the AKC only hijacks other programs, and besides, all the people who do AKC are snobs and hate mixed breeds don'cha'know.

HTH!
I knew you could clear that up for me! :-)
