You're probably right. I can still hope it happens someday. As for numbers, I just don't find that a compelling argument. I don't think that there will be huge, grenormous amounts of mixed breeds competing in AKC because there aren't huge, grenormous numbers of mixed breeds competing anywhere. Some, yes. But huge numbers, no. If a person gets hooked on a sport with a mixed breed, even a great one, they soon realize they can't replicate that. So often, like it or not, they go to some sort of purebred with a specific size and personality type as their next dog.
It would only take one mixed breed getting into a trial and shutting out a purebred to provide a legal challenge if the mission statement isn't changed.
Personally, I'm just fine with AKC sticking to purebred only. The purebred fancy built the organization, and has a right to limit the fruits of that labor to purebred dogs only. It's their ballgame.

it's just very frustrating for those of us with non-akc breeds who, after getting the dog, find out they would very much like to be involved in dog sports, but find themselves in a location where akc events dominate and non-akc events are few and far between, even with reasonable travel.

What's that stand for? I know there's ABDA which is the AmBull Assoc but I can't figure the ADBA out.

Okay, I think there should be a law against four-letter abbreviations for dog clubs/registries that start & end with A. Its getting ridiculous and not just because I'm too dullwitted to keep up.

Thanks to both you and Jack for answering my question. I suspect I've had problems keeping the ADBA and APBR separate especially when the breed is the APBT and there's the dog trainers association called APDT.
