Tonight I had my Columbian Boa around my neck when I went to my TV to change a disk in the DVD player. As I was in the process of changing the disk the snake started going ballistic & spit up all over my neck & leg. It was a clear, odorless fluid. In the past I noticed he would hiss towards the TV, but should I be concerned about a possible health condition instead? I'm freaking out. Please help. Thanks.

Could be a respiratory infection if it's got that much fluid... get it to the vet ASAP!

Ok, I took it out of the tank after about 30 minutes & he was just fine. Had him around my neck for about 30 minutes. Could it have been the close proximity to the CRT? I respect your suggestion to the fullest, Foglet, as well as others, but I always hope for the best regardless. BTW, gonna get that fogger tomorrow. Thanks again.

No! It could not have been wavelengths, digital interference, or anything else related to your CRT aside from possibly stress! And even stress doesn't cause a bunch of liquid to come pouring out of your snake, that may have been what happened when he tried to hiss!

Save your money and get him medical care! I don't doubt that it needs the additional humidity as well, hell that may even be the cause of your potential respiratory infection. There's just no way for a bunch of people on the internet to diagnose what's wrong with your snake but I sure as hell have seen snakes dump a bunch of fluid out of their mouths and had it diagnosed as pneumonia. Have you found an experienced local reptile vet yet? Done any research on where to find one?
If you post your cage dimensions/substrate/ambient temp/basking temp/average humidity/night time temps/feeding habits/etc you might get some feedback on what went wrong, but that still won't fix your snake!
Demonstrate your respect of my suggestion by getting the snake qualified vet care and letting us know what the vet says. No offense, but I feel very strongly about this! Neither you nor any of us is qualified to determine what course of care will fix this snake's problems without a thorough examination, nor what it's problems are.

Hope for the best all you want, just take action to make the best happen. My mother said hope for the best, plan for the worst, and expect nothing.

This is, unfortunately, a classic example of why so many reptiles either die or suffer long-term effects of illnesses. :-(
As fr0glet pointed out, THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL about copious amounts of fluid emanating from a snakes mouth!
You asked a question, you were given a very honest answer (seek veterinary care), but you wish to ignore it because it (obviously) isn't the answer you wanted to hear.
Although I can't tell you for sure what is wrong, I CAN assure you that something is wrong. Hope for the best all you want, but do what is needed for the snake. Either that or give it to someone who can.

How recently had the Boa eaten, or drank a lot of water? And are your sure that the liquid came out of his mouth? I know that sounds like a crazy question, but if you had him around your neck for thirty minutes already, you probably weren't looking at him that much anyway. He could have hissed about time he released the liquid "elsewhere"..lol

He ate last Sunday & I don't know when he drank. I've never seen him drink any water. I'm pretty sure it came from his mouth because when I took him off my neck it was dripping from his head. "Elsewhere" was my first thought as well. Thanks.

One more question. If this is a respiratory problem wouldn't it have a thicker consistency than water, like mucus? This was just like pouring water from a glass which is why I'm not going into a panic yet, however I'm by no means an expert. I also thought you could hear wheezing if it was respiratory? Thanks.

Again, I've seen clear non-mucousy liquid come pouring out of a snake's mouth and had it diagnosed as pneumonia before.

Your mucous/snot isn't the same consistency all the time, is it?
