The big brown turd did it again. I've got 9 animals somewhere in a wharehouse "we think its in kentucky?"
OK, unfortunately I'm in Dallas with a hole punched through my wall, a migraine headache, no clue where my animals are, and will probably recieve a box of dead lizards on Monday. >: (
Did a search for UPS SUCKS and got a few thousand sites, am I the only one that doesn't trust these bastards ?
To top that off, I'm looking at 5000 dead mealworms that Airborne Express dropped off on Friday >: (

Ouch, sorry to hear about that. I hope the lizards survive! Better wait until it cools off to order more, if you do.
I got some collared lizards and desert iguanas a couple years ago off Herpauction, they arrived in July or August I think it was, stiff with cold from the icepacks the seller used to keep them from cooking. All lived but one, but there were a couple that never did well. Buying through the mail is risky.
There are reptile expos at Arlington pretty often, have you ever gone to one? I go to the ETHS one here in Houston every year. I enjoy it a lot, but there aren't many lizards, except for a bajillion bearded dragons and leopard geckos and an occasional Nile monitor.

I totally don't trust UPS. When I worked for www.buytelescopes.com we shipped out ~100-200 scopes a day - some of them costing $15,000. UPS consistently damaged or lost these very expensive packages, and then took a month or more to work out and investigate their insurance claim.

You might check out Delta Dash for animals.

Ugh, I would never send anything delicate or important UPS! My bf used to work for them and they seriously played catch and kickball with the packages! I worked for a printing company and our packages would go out in tightly packed boxes (of paper) and come back ROUND!! I'm so sorry about your animals, I hope they make it home to you safely. Becki
Thanks Cindy, I used to go to the reptile shows here, but they started getting crappier and crappier. We actually had one here by Bob Clark that was awesome, unfortunately I was extremely broke at the time : ( I am hoping for the best, but my mealworms wee only delayed for 1 day, so 2 days in the warehouse and not one survived. So I'm not optimistic. At least I didn't have the week my brother did in Florida. One of his breeder friends was bit 4 times by a black mamba. Was almost clinically dead before they stabilized him, after 15 doses of anti-venom. So I guess my story isn't so bad.
Still sucks though.

OTOH, I just got my new video card and modem from TigerDirect, shipped via UPS next day air, and they got here intact, work fine, shipping box looked OK, ordered Thursday AM, got here Friday AM.

Doesn't UPS refuse to ship animals?
Anna
No but I think they refuse to insure them..
Fedex doesn't like to ship animals, but will if it is sent hold at location. (It may help if you don't tell them its full of critters )
