I'm taking Ernie into the vet this morning. He's been acting lethargic since yesterday, walking a little funny in his backlegs. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I'm not taking any chances! I'm worried about blockage... Emotion: sad

Thanks Alison and Rona. Update:
Ernie is staying at the vet for the day. He had a 105.6 temp and was a bit dehydrated. They're giving his some sub-q fluids and running some tests - liver, kidney, Felv & FIV, etc.. to see what they can find out. I hope it's just a kitty cold. I'm trying not to worry too much, but it's hard. Emotion: sad

It may well be the same "fever of unknown origin" that gave my Sebbie a $400 weekend at the hospital two (three?) years ago. He came home bright-eyed and bushy tailed, and I didn't have the heart to scold him for scaring me or emptying my wallet. Poor little sniggle-bits! ;-)

The vets at the hospital all think he's a very well-mannered cat because he's so scared he'll let them do anything. He was feral kitten who would punch me but never use his claws.
Priscilla, looking at the clock and wondering when she'll get home to give him a snuggle

Good luck. Last Christmas one of our cats was just not acting right lethargic, mainly. Nothing specific, but since she is normally an exuberant cat, I could tell something was wrong. It's always better to let the vet have a look in that case, I think. She was eventually diagnosed with a mild case of pancreatitis which had long cleared up by the time the test results came back (that test takes several weeks to get the results). I'm sure with Ernie it will turn out to be something easy to treat as well.
Karen, I hope Ernie gets a clean bill of health. Please let us know.

Hugs,
Lauren

Thank you. That makes me feel better. On the good side, his lymph nodes weren't swollen and his gums were a healthy pink. I'm picking him up after work today, then will take him back first thing in the morning to get test results. If he indeed just has a fever I will personally go out and buy him some fresh caught tuna, the little monkey!

Hope for the best, I always say! He's very lucky to have a human who looks after him so well. Not everyone would have noticed the change in their cat's behaviour, and gone to the vet so soon. No matter what's wrong with him (hopefully something minor), it's thanks to you that he's getting whatever treatment he needs. You can take courage in that, at the very least!
Miss Kitty sends head butts your way (and she sends one to Ernie, as well!).
