At least I wouldn't have, in a million years. I was at the vet, dropping off Khan's urine sample, and in comes a lady with a cute and fluffy dog. Very sweet and outgoing, and the owner said that the cheerful disposition is a breed norm. Most definitely not an american breed, and is a working dog. Good reason for all that fluffy coat, although I've since read that there is a short coated variety too. This one weighed in about 50 pounds, and could definitely stand to lose weight, probably 10 pounds; anyway, the descriptions said small - medium sized dog. The dog had double dews, in the back legs too, which is acceptable according to breed standards.

This breed is not recognized by the AKC, but is recognized by UKC and CKC.

I am going to guess, based merely on serendipity, a Karelian Bear Dog.

I saw puppy pix of one today and I wanted one! But haven't done any further research.
