Hi all,
I'm inviting you to tell us about your first dog. What breed it was? When and how did you get it? Do you still have any dogs of this breed? If you want to tell us more about it, feel free to! Emotion: smile
The first dog I can remember having was a Cocker Spaniel, but I don't remember his name. I was only 2 or 3 years old. The only thing I DO remember was the night he was hit and killed by a car, and how much I cried. When I think of him, I can still hear the screeching tires on the road, when the driver tried to avoid hitting him. Emotion: crying

I have never had another Cocker Spaniel.
Sorry for bringing these bad memories back, Lynn. Emotion: sad I had no idea you had this terrible experience with your first dog...
No need to apologise. You had no way of knowing this had happened. However, it was a very, very long time ago, and I'm over it. Otherwise I wouldn't have dogs now. Emotion: smile
My very first dog I got when I was 2 years old. His name was Rocky and he was a Lab/Golden Retriever mix. I think my parents got him out of the paper... the reason he was named Rocky was because I was more interested in playing with the rocks in the driveway than looking at the puppies LOL. We had him 7 years, until he injured a goat kid that woke him from his sleep. My parents, afraid and not knowing what to do, rehomed him. He escaped his new home and was on his way back to us when he was hit by a car. A kind stranger rushed him to the vet and called the number on his tags, but he could not be saved. My poor poor Rocky Emotion: sad. I have never had another lab/golden retriever.

The first dog that was MINE and I trained myself was Lucky, a Corgi/border collie mix when I was 10 years old. We found him running the streets during a yard sale. I took him through all levels of obedience and started him in agility. I had medical issues at the time and he was also a service dog for me. A terrible incident with another dog took my Lucky from me one day... however to this day I love border collies because I see so much of him in them, and will never be without one!!
